Widmeyer Announces New Client Win:
Hecla Mining Company

WASHINGTON, DC - Widmeyer Communications proudly announced a new addition to the client roster of the Consortium for Risk and Crisis Communications (comprised of Widmeyer Communications and the Center for Risk Communication). The Consortium will work with Hecla Mining to fine-tune communication policies and procedures for communications in the event of a mining emergency.

“Hecla has an excellent safety record and is committed to continued safe mining operations, but they also recognize that being safe means being prepared,” said Dr. Tim Tinker, Senior Vice President at Widmeyer and a Consortium co-founder. “The Consortium will work with the company to develop a strong communications strategy so if there is an emergency, Hecla has all resources and training necessary to effectively communicate internally and externally.”

Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, has 115 years of experience in the mining industry.  The company has exploration properties and operating mines in five major world-class mining districts.

The Consortium works with a variety of public and private sector clients and helps them plan for unforeseen and potentially threatening circumstances and respond effectively to immediate crisis.  In particular, the Consortium places a strong emphasis on the need to prepare internal and external communications activities so that they are in alignment with operations activities and capabilities.
