Widmeyer Wisdoms

Widmeyer regularly hosts luncheon discussions with special guests that include prominent reporters, editors, issue experts, and business leaders. Known as "Widmeyer Wisdoms," these discussions provide Widmeyer team members with unique insights and special opportunities to build relationships.

Those who’ve shared their wisdom with us include:
  • Tim Reid, Washington Correspondent, The Times of London. Reid has traveled and reported extensively in Europe and the Middle East, and specifically in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
  • James Trengrove, Senior Producer for Politics, The NewsHour with Jim Lehr. Trengrove is responsible for planning and directing the program's daily and long range political and congressional coverage, both on tape and in-studio.
  • Emily Heil, Columnist, Roll Coll. Heil writes the Heard on the Hill column, the premier gossip column about Congress, for Roll Call. Heil has also appeared on Chris Matthews' Hardball, and is a regular contributor to the Washington Post.
  • Carl M. Cannon, Contributing Editor, National Journal. Prior to joining the magazine, Cannon covered police, courts, local and statewide politics, education, and race relations at newspapers in Virginia, Georgia, and California.
  • Jeff Birnbaum, “On K Street” Columnist, Washington Post. Birnbaum is a frequent political analyst on television shows such as Washington Week in Review and is a political contributor to FOX News.
  • Mark Murray, Deputy Political Director, NBC News. Since joining NBC News, Mark Murray has reported on and written about political races, trends, and issues.
  • Amit Paley, Education Reporter, The Washington Post. Paley gained immediate notoriety as a new education reporter for the Post with his front page coverage of the student loan scandal and No Child Left Behind.
  • John Harris, Editor-In-Chief, The Politico. Harris is a widely respected political reporter who co-founded this new inside-the-beltway publication after covering Capitol Hill and the Administration for The Washington Post.
