Usher directed polling efforts for a number of high profile campaigns, including the re-elections of Senator Barbara Boxer and Representative Steny Hoyer, as well as for John Kerry’s presidential campaign. Usher has also been involved in work for a wide range of public interest groups and labor unions, including the California Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology, the Sierra Club, the Trial Lawyers Associations of Washington, DC and West Virginia, and Reading is Fundamental. A recognized figure, Usher has appeared on MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News and National Public Radio for his analysis of elections and political trends. He has also lectured widely on politics and public opinion, has led seminars for the U.S. State Department’s International Visitors program and has been published in Political Research Quarterly, Campaigns and Elections, The Hotline, and The Hill. Usher earned a Masters and Ph.D. in Government from Cornell University, with a focus on American politics, advanced statistical techniques and survey methodology.
