PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Widmeyer’s Public Affairs practice understands government. And we know how to influence public policies that can advance a client’s interests, create a competitive advantage, and lead to a successful outcome.  We recognize that public affairs is not just about managing tactics; it also is about managing public issues, perceptions, people and reputations.

Our approach sets us apart from other agencies in the following ways:

  • Research informs all we do because the more we know about audiences, attitudes and opinions, the more successful we will be in influencing them.

  • Communications strategies are seamlessly integrated with other disciplines because today’s environment requires interdependent roles for media, government affairs, grassroots and coalition mobilization, financial and investor goals, and advocacy advertising.

  • In-depth knowledge is our strength because we focus on the substantive issues in which we excel rather than attempting to be all things to all clients.

  • Results are measurable because we believe in being held accountable for achieving success.

Our team is comprised senior communications experts from federal and state government, political campaigns, business, non-profit groups and media. And every project is a team effort involving the appropriate expertise and the right professionals to ensure our clients always see results.

Case Studies

Committee for Economic Development (CED): A Business-led Campaign Finance Reform Project
Through a major media campaign orchestrated by Widmeyer, the Committee for Economic Development moved business leaders into the forefront of reform and played a key role in the historic passage of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform legislation in 2002.

National Immigration Forum (NIF): The Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act
The National Immigration Forum tapped Widmeyer to help them raise support for comprehensive immigration reform legislation and to highlight their efforts, along with those of their coalition partners, to build support for public policies that are fair and supportive to immigrants.

Migration Policy Institute (MPI)
MPI sought Widmeyer's assistance with raising awareness of their newly created bipartisan task force of prominent leaders concerned with immigration but did not have the in-house resources to embark on major media outreach.
