Causes that focus on bettering the lives of children have always been close to my heart. During my college career I spent a majority of my time volunteering for my alma mater’s student philanthropy organization, affectionately known as THON, raising funds and awareness for children pediatric cancer. When I wasn’t in the classroom or volunteering, I worked at elementary schools throughout Centre County Pennsylvania providing after-school care. As a member of Widmeyer’s PreK-12 Education team I am able to fuse my passions for writing and youth advocacy every day in my work. In my spare time I can typically be found cheering on my beloved Nittany Lions and Washington Nationals, or hanging by the water in my hometown of Annapolis.
Julia Banks is an account executive in Widmeyer’s PreK-12 education practice. Banks joined the firm in 2014 as a partner-in-training where she spent her time working for clients including the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, StopBullying.gov and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Her work at Widmeyer has provided the opportunity for her to develop her skills in communications planning and execution, as well as social media strategy integration.
Prior to Widmeyer, Banks interned at KEH Communications where she worked on several K-12 educational consumer product accounts. During the fall of 2013 she worked with the Jimirro Center, located on Penn State’s main campus, studying media effects on millennials. She is a 2014 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where she received a bachelor of arts degree in Public Relations and minored in Business.
