We are all saddened by the untimely death Monday of Jody Powell. For me, he was a boss, a mentor, and later in my career a respected competitor. I learned so much from Jody in my early career days as a Carter press aide and later in the 1980s when we both joined Ogilvy PR at the same time and he was my boss again.
Jody gave new meaning to the role of press secretary, spokesman and strategist. We’ll miss his keen wit, his warmth and my life is much richer for having known and worked with Jody.
My deepest condolences go out to Nan, Emily and the Powell family as well as to our friends at Powell-Tate.
