I am passionate about education. I especially love giving voice to those brilliant warriors who work tirelessly to improve education every day. From teachers to researchers to techies, my mission is to ensure these education devotees can share their successes and findings with the world. I spend my free time enjoying my husband and super dog in our Brooklyn neighborhood (if there are no programs about sharks on TV).

Biography:
Jacqui Lipson is an assistant vice president on the PreK-12 Education team in Widmeyer's New York Office. With over a decade of experience in education and public affairs, Lipson possesses a keen sense of the complex education issues facing the nation.
Most recently, Lipson spent two years exploring the landscape of charter schools at a non-profit charter management organization in Brooklyn, where she developed and managed internal communications systems, parent engagement and external affairs.
Previously she worked at the NYC Department of Education's then-newly established Office for Family Engagement. Lipson was tasked with rebuilding relations between the DOE and parent leaders. Embracing the challenge, she worked tirelessly to ensure both the DOE and parent leaders were engaged beyond the spirit of the law and with a keen focus on student success. Lipson developed a reputation among her colleagues and parents as an honest, strategic thinker, talented communicator and negotiator.
Lipson also served as the Director of Public Affairs at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, where she worked to improve relations with various elected leaders, community associations and government agencies around a complex urban park project, as well as managed media outreach for the Park’s public cultural programming. As the Teen Program Manager for the highly respected Philadelphia nonprofit, Project HOME, Lipson developed her skills in management, fundraising, program design and client service under the mentorship of Sister Mary Scullion, one of the country's most effective advocates for community revitalization, housing and mental health. She started her career with a Teach for America post in New Orleans.
Lipson holds an M.A. in Public Administration from NYU's Wagner School for Public Service and a B.A. in Environmental Justice from the University of Vermont.
