Biography:
Henry Engleka is a principal of Widmeyer Communications and Managing Director of the firm’s New York office. He has nearly 20 years experience in health care communications, marketing and management.
Engleka provides strategic and tactical support to clients that include Pfizer Inc., John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, Nestlé SA and Nestlé USA, Allendale Pharmaceuticals, the National Business Group on Health, West Virginia University Department of Neurosurgery, United Health System, The American Foundation for the Blind, The Sports Legacy Institute and others. Engleka focuses on areas that include positioning, corporate image and reputation management, cause-related marketing, crisis communications, internal communications and media relations. An advocate of integrated communications platforms, Engleka works with clients to harness the power of multiple programmatic areas such as philanthropy, corporate sponsorships, advertising, communications, public affairs and media relations.
Prior to his work with Widmeyer, Engleka served as Chief Operating Officer for the Mount Carmel Guild Behavioral Health System, a large health care system in Northern New Jersey that offers a full range of services from home-based care to in-patient hospitalization. In this capacity, he managed day-to-day operations, developed a community advisory board, and was the key executive responsible for many of the hospital’s contacts with external parties.
Engleka also served as Assistant Executive Director and Staff Director for the American Psychological Association (APA) in Washington, D.C. The APA serves more than 119,000 member psychologists throughout the United States and Canada. In his capacity at the APA, Engleka introduced the organization and its members to marketing and marketing communications and oversaw the development of a national advertising campaign designed to reduce the stigma associated with mental health care and increase the use of psychological services. At the APA, Engleka oversaw the development of several partnerships with Fortune 100 companies to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness and cost-offsets that result from the use of psychological services. Engleka also had responsibility for day-to-day management of the Association’s state and federal advocacy efforts. While at the APA, Engleka conceived, developed and edited a series of books designed to help mental health professionals understand and succeed in a changing marketplace.
