Staff Promotions in Education Group - Stenos Promoted to SVP; Zaentz to VP

Washington, DC (February 4, 2016) – Widmeyer Communications, a Finn Partners company, today announced several staff promotions in its Education practice in DC and New York.

Marina Stenos was promoted to Senior VP and Partner. Since joining the firm in 2011, Stenos has developed a reputation as one of the nation’s foremost communications experts in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) space. She has demonstrated her leadership and strategic talents through projects such as the rollout of the Next Generation Science Standards and by working with clients such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Army Education Outreach Program (AEOP), ExxonMobil, and the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI). She maintains a consistent schedule of speaking engagements throughout the year, including participating at numerous STEM-related gatherings.

Rachel Zaentz was promoted to Vice President.  Zaentz, one of the youngest VP’s in Widmeyer history, joined the company in 2010 from GMMB and is recognized as a subject matter expert in early childhood education communications. Her record of success spans media relations, strategy, reputation management, digital engagement and coalition and partnership development.  She has played an integral role in the agency’s work with a variety of clients including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Pritzker Children’s Initiative, the Bridgespan Group, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Heckman Equation, First Five Years Fund (FFYF), Denver Public Schools, Data Quality Campaign and the BUILD Initiative.

Additional promotions include Lindsay Broyhill, promoted to Account Supervisor, and Autumn Dunn, promoted to Senior Account Executive. Broyhill also focused on early childhood work, and joined Widmeyer from Nurtury, an early education nonprofit in Boston. Dunn has secured high-profile placements for a variety of clients on national and local broadcast outlets, in leading magazines targeted to African Americans, and in top-tier education trade outlets. Dunn is an active member of the New York chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists.

“I’m very proud of this year’s crop of promoted colleagues,” said Jason Smith, Managing Partner.  “Their fields of expertise – STEM, early childhood, and communities of color – reflect the most important issues in public education today.  They’re the reason why our clients rely on us so much and value our partnership.”
