Vice President, Business Development

Widmeyer Communications seeks a Vice President, Business Development.  This senior level professional, who will report to the President, will lead the firm's efforts in new business development and will oversee the firm's marketing director. The Vice President, Business Development will actively generate new business leads, coordinate development of new business proposals, support the development of current clients, oversee firm wide marketing, and play a key role in the overall growth of the firm.

Entrepreneurial spirit, mature judgment, self-confidence, creative savvy, management skills, and an eagerness to work in a diverse team environment are preferred. 

Specific duties include:

  • Establishing new firmwide structure around business development.
  • Identifying business targets around firm's strategic goals as well as assessing business sectors with potential growth for the firm.
  • Cultivating relationships with potential clients.
  • Identifying growth areas with current clients and coordinating development of this business with account teams.
  • Coordinating firm's response to new business proposals.
  • Marshalling resources to achieve overall new business targets.

Experience and skills required

  • 10 years in progressively responsible positions, ideally with a new business component within public relations or public affairs firms.
  • Capitol Hill, trade groups and/or coalition experience a plus.
  • Strong writing and editing.
  • Extensive contact base.
  • Independent thinker eager to innovate and get results.
  • Business development.
