WHO WE ARE

Scott Widmeyer

Chairman

For 25 years Scott Widmeyer has provided strategic counsel to scores of decision-makers including presidents, governors, chief executive officers and union leaders.  His work has earned Widmeyer the reputation as a change agent for the public policy issues that matter most to America.  He founded Widmeyer Communications in 1988.

Beginning his career as a newspaper reporter in the 1970s, Widmeyer went on to compile an impressive track record of garnering press coverage for clients across numerous fields including education reform, health care, campaign finances, technology and trade.  He has served in major communications positions for five highly-respected leaders - former President Jimmy Carter; former Vice President Walter Mondale; U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller; former Congresswoman Geraldine Ferraro; and the late Albert Shanker.

Widmeyer is active in the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the New York City Partnership, the Council of Public Relations Firms, the Public Relations Society of New York, the National Press Club, the Education Writers Association and the International Public Relations Association.  He is a graduate of West Virginia University (WVU) and in early 2003 received WVU's most prestigious award in journalism - The P.
