Henry Engleka
Senior Vice President
Henry Engleka has nearly 20 years experience in health care communications, marketing and management. At Widmeyer, Engleka provides strategic counsel to a wide range of clients focusing on positioning, marketing communications, partnership development and crisis communication.
In addition to managing the firm’s New York based staff, Engleka’s clients include Pfizer, Allendale Pharmaceuticals, the National Business Group on Health, West Virginia University Department of Neurosurgery, United Health System and others. Engleka has assisted clients in translating complex medical and scientific research for consumption by the general media, developed a communication program and strategy for a client navigating the FDA approval process and designed a series of toolkits on health-related topics for employers attempting to implement prevention programs for their employees.
Prior to his work with Widmeyer, Engleka served as Chief Operating Officer for the Mount Carmel Guild Behavioral Health System, a large health care system in Northern New Jersey that offers a full range of services from home-based care to inpatient hospitalization. In this capacity, he managed day-to-day operations, developed a community advisory board, and was the key executive responsible for many of the hospital’s contacts with external parties.
Engleka also served as Assistant Executive Director and Staff Director for the American Psychological Association (APA) in Washington, D.C. The APA serves over 119,000 member psychologists throughout the United States and Canada. In his capacity at the APA, Engleka introduced the organization and its members to marketing and marketing communications and oversaw the development of a national advertising campaign designed to reduce the stigma associated with mental health care and increase the use of psychological services. At the APA, Engleka oversaw the development of several partnerships with Fortune 100 companies to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness and cost-offsets that result from the use of psychological services. Engleka also had responsibility for day-to-day management of the Association’s state and federal advocacy efforts. While at the APA, Engleka conceived, developed and edited a series of books designed to help mental health professionals understand and succeed in a changing marketplace.
