Widmeyer Launches National Poison Help Campaign
for the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)

Widmeyer Communications recently worked with the U.S. Department of Health and Human services to create a new National Poison Help Campaign, which educates the public about poisonings and increases awareness about Poison Help.

To create the campaign, Widmeyer relied on opinion research, focus group testing and input from experts in the field of poisoning to develop an in-depth plan to educate target audiences, who include parents, older Americans, health professionals and others.

The campaign, which recently launched in March 2008, includes a new Poison Help Web site with information for every audience and links to resources on poisonings.  We also developed a new digital toolkit that includes tip sheets, educational calendars, brochures and more, along with four animated, digital advertisements.  The ads are currently running in various formats on major Web sites including WebMD, Yahoo!, USA Today, and more.

For the official campaign launch, Widmeyer worked with HRSA and the Poison Prevention Week council to organize a Poison Prevention Fair at Union Station in Washington, DC, where various organizations came together to raise awareness about poisonings and poisoning prevention.  And, our digital ad strategy for this campaign has proven to be highly successful, driving significant numbers of daily visitors to the Poison Help Web site.
