Lisa Bushey

Vice President

Lisa Bushey has nearly 20 years of public relations experience in university, consulting, and governmental arenas, with targeted skills in: project management; publications development; media relations; special-event design; and proposal development. Prior to joining Widmeyer, Bushey served as Director of Communications for The George Washington University Center for Equity and Excellence in Education (GW/CEEE) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA).

At Widmeyer, Bushey directs all work for The Coca-Cola Company and oversees efforts to support their environmental and educational initiatives. Bushey’s environmental work for the Company centers on water use, sustainable packaging and climate change. She also provides leadership to Coca-Cola’s education and health and wellness initiative, The Council for Corporate & School Partnerships, which is chaired by former U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley.
 
Bushey’s other Widmeyer projects have included oversight of a U.S. Department of Treasury initiative to promote fiscal literacy and education for all Americans. She has also provided her expertise for an award-winning national campaign on behalf of the Health Resources Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, entitled Stop Bullying Now!
 
In her prior position at GW/CEEE, Bushey acquired communications expertise in addressing the specialized linguistic and cultural needs of English language learners, particularly in the area of accommodated assessment. At AERA, Bushey worked closely with an international community of scholars to promote research findings pertaining to a wide range of educational hot topics.
 
As an independent consultant to the Center on Education Policy (CEP), Bushey conducted an environmental scan of 20 high-profile national education organizations to help CEP examine and retool its policy foci.
 
Bushey has completed all coursework toward the M.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, and earned a B.A. in English and History from Dickinson College.
