Research helps to answer the challenging questions clients are facing – about perceptions in the marketplace, new opportunities for engagement and where communications dollars will have the most impact. Widmeyer Research works in partnership with account teams and clients to narrow in on the most pressing questions. We specialize in producing the insights that communicators need to change attitudes, strengthen a brand, improve a service or evaluate options. Without sound research, it’s a shot in the dark.

We built one of the only research shops in an independent agency so that Widmeyer clients would benefit from integrated services. Collaboration across the firm means that the best in creative thinking meets with the most rigorous testing.

Here are just a few examples of our success:

CSR Effort for a Fortune 100 Corporation
One of the world’s largest corporations enlisted Widmeyer to build its reputation through public events and social media. In close collaboration with our Health and Wellness team, Widmeyer research laid an opinion and social media benchmark for the corporation, and developed key messages through sessions with internal stakeholders. Our research team conducted research around the globe, focusing on elites in the United States and Europe, to build the most effective messaging. Messaging was used to develop strategic initiatives across the corporation. Social media monitoring demonstrated substantial increase in the company’s presence in the CSR space relative to competitors. Our ongoing research and monitoring effort will track progress toward CSR communications goals.

Wellesley College
Working directly with our higher education team, Widmeyer research most recently provided an extensive analysis of today’s prospect pool, including large scale surveys and a series of focus groups among guidance counselors, prospective students and parents. Together, the Widmeyer team developed messaging designed to appeal across key prospect segments, and provided strategic communications insight as they transitioned to more aggressive digital communications. The results were clear: in a year when competitors faced double-digit declines, Wellesley’s applications increased along with its yield of high-achieving students.

Library of Congress
As a steward for the country’s treasured artifacts and a pioneer in digital archives, the Library of Congress offers great value for educators and students. Working directly with our PreK-12 Education team, Widmeyer conducted large-scale research of the marketplace that included polling, virtual focus groups and elite interviews. Our findings identified the most promising opportunities for marketing the Library of Congress’ Educational Outreach Programs and messaging that would resonate. Based on Widmeyer’s insights and recommendations, the Library of Congress will be rolling out a new nation-wide initiative.
