Mark D. Levine
Mark D. Levine serves as Senior Counsel to Widmeyer Communications. He has built and led results-oriented non-profit organizations in the education and economic development sectors for more than 15 years. Levine provides strategic counsel and support Widmeyer’s work in the education, non-profit, philanthropic and public affairs space, with a special emphasis on the New York City metro area.
Levine is the 71st Assembly District Democratic Leader and was a New York state Senate candidate in 2010. Most recently, he served as founding Executive Director of the Center for After-School Excellence at TASC (The After-School Corp.), building a professional development system for the after-school field supported by robust research and evaluation.
Previously, Levine helped lead a national non-profit, One Economy, in providing technology to residents of affordable housing. Levine also served as Executive Director of Teach For America in New York, where he oversaw a major expansion in the size of its local teaching corps. In the 90’s, he founded Credit Where Credit Is Due, a community-based non-profit which has helped thousands of low-income residents of Upper Manhattan gain access to financial services, micro-loans and financial literacy training.
He received a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and graduated with a B.A. from Haverford College.
