The former vice president for education at WNET Channel 13 in New York and an accomplished educator, Ron Thorpe was named president and CEO of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (“National Board”) in December 2011. The National Board was created 25 years ago in an effort to raise the standards of the teaching profession, recognize great teaching, and spread best practices nationwide.
