West Virginia University Widmeyer Scholarships
Program Benefits African-American and First Generation College Students
Since 1998, the endowed Scott D. Widmeyer African-American and First Generation Scholarships have supported two students a year. The scholarship program benefits African-American and first generation West Virginian college students who are seeking degrees in journalism. The scholarships focus on students in WVU’s Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism. To date, 19 students have been awarded scholarships.
Scott Widmeyer is a recipient of the Distinguished West Virginian Award for his ongoing commitment to WVU.

Brandon Radcliffe Mr. Radcliffe is a senior at WVU and is majoring in broadcast news. He works with the campus radio station, U-92 FM, and has interned with the Mountaineer Sports Network and the Philadelphia Phillies. Radcliffe is from Philadelphia, PA. |

Caitlyn Kish Ms. Kish, also a senior at WVU, is majoring in public relations. Kish is the secretary of WVU’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She’s from Wheeling, WV. |
